Stardust Designs Bead Shoppe Blog November 26, 2008 What to do with Lentils (or Lentil Beads) Most people think of lentils as being a type of bean, those little round things you can put in rice. Do you know there's a style of bead called "Lentil"? These beads are round and are drilled in such a way that the bead wire goes in one side and out the other--not the usual top to bottom, teardrop, or through the middle. What you end up having is round beads that lay over or overlap each other so that you see a continuous smooth look throughout the body of the necklace. I see that many people avoid using these beads because they aren't quite sure what to do with them. Most of the time I wouldn't recommend putting anything between these beads because their continuity of style would be disrupted. Artist Leigh Drennan, submitted her piece created with gorgeous Moss Agate Lentil beads she purchased at the shop:
Leigh just merely added a beautiful matching pendant and finished off with a pretty decorative clasp. This necklace will lay nicely on the wearer's neck--sure wish it was mine! |
